The use of cellulose and tablecloths for use, as well as an adequate replacement of the scourers help to improve the hygiene of the work canteen.

The work canteen is the place where we disconnect (even for a short time) from our work routine and connect with colleagues.
It could be said that the work canteen is associated with the welfare of the worker during the working day.
Hygiene is something that goes quite unnoticed (especially when carried out correctly) but, nevertheless, plays a fundamental role when it comes to completing well-being.
Here are several guidelines for hygiene in the work canteen.

Dispensers for dishwashing detergents
As for the characteristics of the soap or detergent, it must contain a high degreasing power, taking into account the type of waste to be removed.
The replacement of the soap will be carried out by the person in charge of cleaning or maintenance to avoid cross contamination problems.

Replace the scourers once a week

As a general rule, it is recommended to replace scourers and sponges once a week.
Taking into account that its use is much more widespread in the work canteen (they are used by many people at the end of the week), the maximum time to replace the scourers or sponges is one week, it is recommended to even change them more frequently.
These, in addition, should be stored in a place that allows perspiration to prevent the proliferation of germs generated by moisture. But they must also be protected to preserve their own hygiene.

Disposable paper tablecloths for tables

Disposable paper tablecloths are the most hygienic option to protect the tables.
Most of the time, tablecloths get dirty during meals and, therefore, the best option is to discard them after use. So we don’t have to worry about keeping them clean.
We recommend paper tablecloths in particular because they adapt to the measures of the table (we cut them as appropriate) and they are also recyclable.
Cellulose for drying hands and dishes

Generally the health of the elderly is more vulnerable. An intestinal infection or a respiratory virus can lead to more complications and a longer recovery.

80% of all infections are transmitted through the hands. Washing your hands can prevent the transmission of respiratory viruses, influenza virus, enterovirus and respiratory syncytial virus, among others, as well as gastroenteritis, hepatitis and other more serious diseases. Infections are very common in long-term care centers and represent an important cause of contagion and mortality among residents of geriatric centers.

A study published recently in the American Journal of Infection Control evaluated the impact of implementing a specific program of preventive actions with hand hygiene in nursing homes.

During the implementation of the program, health professionals took measures related to the hygiene of the hands, provided greater access to disinfecting hands through pocket bottles and new dispensers, as well as installing information screens and training programs.

The researchers evaluated the hand hygiene practices measuring the consumption of hand sanitizers and evaluating the rate of incidence of acute respiratory infections and acute gastroenteritis.

Conclusions of the study:

There was an increase in the use of hand sanitizer by health personnel during the one-year study period.

The mortality rate was significantly reduced: from 2.10 per 100 residents per month, compared to 2.65 per 100 residents per month in the control group.

Healthcare personnel also experienced lower prescriptions of antibiotics at 5 daily doses defined for 100 days resident versus the daily defined doses of 5.8 of the control group for 100 resident days.

Hospitalizations did not make a difference between the two groups.

What does it mean?

Keeping your hands clean is one of the most important steps to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. When a center implements a hand hygiene program increases the consumption of disinfectants, and in return achieves a more protected space for residents and workers, reduces costs in antibiotic treatments, avoids labor losses and improves the quality of the service.
If you plan to implement improvements with regard to accessing the hand sanitizer to your business, we advise you to choose the best options offered by the market in disinfectants with sanitary registration and dispensers.

It has been shown that with good hand hygiene we prevent the spread of gastrointestinal, respiratory and food poisoning in general. For this reason it is so important to create healthy work spaces and promote good hygiene habits for young people from an early age.
In schools and kindergartens, students often work with their hands; share objects; They play with sand or simply rub a wound or put their fingers in their mouths. This causes the hands to concentrate a large amount of dirt and microbes and pose a danger of contagion.
Making the act of washing your hands before eating or handling food a routine and, of course, after going to the service, is the best way to instill in children a hygiene habit that will protect them throughout their lives.

How should we wash our hands:

1. Wet your hands. Preferably use warm water.
2. Rub hands vigorously with soap for about 15 seconds.
3. Ensure the correct cleaning between the fingers, wrists and, very importantly, under the nails, using a brush.
4. Rinse hands correctly under water to completely remove soap residue.
5. Dry your hands well with disposable paper towels. Close the tap with the same wipe.
Wash or disinfect hands?

Washing is not the same as disinfecting hands. In professional settings and, especially with children or the elderly, it is advisable to use special soaps with some disinfectant power to avoid contagion or cross contamination.

Antiseptic hand wash. Most practical disinfectants.

The use of disinfectant liquids that do not need rinsing is an effective one in collective dining rooms or areas where hand cleaning can become a complicated task to control.
The main advantage is its efficiency and speed. In a few seconds it disinfects and dries itself. Eliminates pathogenic microorganisms and allows hand hygiene in any situation and place. But you have to keep in mind that it cannot be used if we have traces of dirt on our hands.
* Disinfectants authorized by the Spanish Agency for medicines and health products. Suitable for situations that require preventive actions.

How to apply an antiseptic:

1. Apply 3 ml of solution on the palm of clean and dry hands.
2. friction-hands for a minimum of 30 seconds: cover all surfaces of the hands, including the fingers, until they are dry. Hands should be allowed to dry on their own.

Solutions and systems for schools

Single-use paper dispensers to avoid cross contamination. With savings system to favor the responsible consumption of cellulose and lower costs.
* For nurseries, there are paper towels on the market that, when wet, are transformed with wet wipes and which can be very useful and practical for spot cleaning of hands and / or surfaces.

Soap dispensers or alcohol disinfectants. The advantage of these devices is that they can dose the soap or disinfectant automatically quickly and conveniently.
