During the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, preventive disinfection measures should be taken in places with dense crowds (such as conference rooms, hotels, supermarkets, etc.), or when the risk of virus transmission increases due to crowded activities. According to the conclusion of experts, preventive disinfection measures should be taken in the following four places: first, crowded places such as waiting rooms, waiting rooms, wharfs, passenger stations, ticket halls, etc.; second, public transportation such as buses and long-distance buses; The third is institutions, schools, kindergartens, hotels and hotels; the fourth is places for medical isolation and observation. In addition, the new coronavirus is prone to appear in the parts that the patient’s droplets can reach or the hands often touch, such as doorknobs, faucets, doorbell buttons, elevator buttons, elevator cars, stair handrails, etc. These parts should be cleaned regularly by special personnel disinfect.

So, during the epidemic prevention and control period, how should citizens disinfect their homes at home? Experts said that the new coronavirus belongs to the β-genus coronavirus, which is sensitive to ultraviolet light and heat. 30 minutes at 56 degrees Celsius, ether, 75% ethanol, chlorine-containing disinfectants, peracetic acid, and chloroform and other lipid solvents can effectively inactivate the virus. It is recommended that the home environment and items should be mainly cleaned, supplemented by preventive disinfection, and excessive disinfection should be avoided. Experts give the following advice:

1. Tableware and tea sets: physical disinfection is preferred, boil for 15-30 minutes, or use a high-temperature disinfection box (cabinet) to disinfect according to the instructions; you can also use chlorine-containing disinfectant (effective chlorine concentration 250mg/L ~ 500mg/L) to soak for 30 After a few minutes, rinse with clean water.

2. Object surface: For surfaces that are frequently touched such as countertops, door handles, telephones, switches, kettle handles, wash basins, toilets, etc., chlorine-containing disinfectants can be used (effective chlorine concentration 250mg/L ~ 500mg/L) Wipe it for 30 minutes, then wipe it with clean water, or wipe it with 75% alcohol for disinfection.

3. Floor: Use chlorine-containing disinfectant (available chlorine concentration 250 mg/L ~ 500 mg/L) to wet mop with a mop for 30 minutes, and then rinse with water.

4. Ordinary fabrics: Towels, clothing, quilts, etc. can be soaked in chlorine-containing disinfectant (effective chlorine concentration 250mg/L ~ 500mg/L) for 30 minutes, then rinsed with clean water, or other clothing disinfectants can be used according to the instructions. (Note: Chlorine-based disinfectants have a bleaching effect on fabrics).

For the current common disinfectants and their preparation and use, experts also gave specific guidance.

1. 84 disinfectant (effective chlorine content 5%): 1 part of 84 disinfectant is diluted with 99 parts of water.

2. Disinfectant powder (available chlorine content 12-13%, 20g/pack): 1 pack of disinfectant powder plus 4.8 liters of water.

3. Chlorine-containing disinfectant effervescent tablets (available chlorine content 480mg/tablet-580mg/tablet): 1 tablet is dissolved in 1 liter of water.

4. 75% alcohol disinfectant: directly wipe and use.

Experts finally remind the public that chlorine-containing disinfectants are irritating to the skin and mucous membranes. It is recommended to wear masks and gloves when preparing and using them; children should not touch them; ethanol disinfectants should be used away from fire sources.

It is the summer vacation. If citizens want to travel, they should first avoid middle-high-risk areas. In addition, they need to continue to maintain good personal habits, such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, and keeping distance in crowded crowds, but if it is a high-risk group-patients with chronic diseases , Elderly people, etc., and have not been vaccinated, then travel is not recommended. ”

According to the current epidemiological investigation, the patient has no history of traveling or living in the past two weeks. So far, no connection between the case and the epidemic in other parts of the country has been found. The disease control department is stepping up to carry out gene sequencing. At the same time, according to the current situation of epidemic prevention and control, all medical institutions in the city have implemented the following measures to prevent and control the current epidemic:

1. Implement “dual code” verification. Strictly manage the entrance and exit of hospitals, add “travel code” checks on the basis of measuring body temperature, wearing masks, asking epidemiological history, and checking health codes, to ensure that key populations are found in the first time, and nucleic acid testing is carried out as soon as possible.

2. Strictly regulate the operation and management of the hospital. Implement the appointment diagnosis and treatment system to reduce the waiting time in the hospital; strengthen the order management of the outpatient and emergency area and the nucleic acid sampling area to avoid crowds of people. Strictly implement nucleic acid testing for newly admitted patients and their companions. In principle, no companions or visits are not necessary.

3. Guard the bottom line of hospitalization prevention and control. Strengthen the personal protection of staff, strictly carry out health monitoring and regular nucleic acid testing, refine the control measures for key areas, posts and links, strengthen hand hygiene, do a good job in environmental ventilation and surface disinfection, and strictly manage medical waste.

4. Increase the frequency of nucleic acid testing. Fever clinics, isolation and observation wards, pre-hospital emergency agencies engaged in the transfer of confirmed cases, suspected cases and other key positions, as well as other positions in medical institutions, increase the frequency of corresponding nucleic acid tests to detect hidden risks as soon as possible.

5. Strengthen training and emergency plan drills. Focusing on case discovery, reporting, isolation, diagnosis and treatment, nucleic acid testing, hospital infection prevention and control and other links, strengthen training, organize and carry out emergency epidemic prevention and control and medical treatment simulation exercises to improve emergency response capabilities of medical staff.

6. Strengthen the investigation and supervision of hidden dangers. Medical institutions pay attention to strengthen the investigation and rectification of hidden dangers. We have also strengthened on-site guidance, supervision and inspection of epidemic prevention and control in medical institutions through mutual investigations and unannounced visits, checking loopholes, and remedying weaknesses.

According to the Spanish “Marca” website reported on July 9th, the Tokyo Olympics will be recorded in history as the Olympics held during the pandemic. Despite the one-year postponement, Japan still hopes to maintain the name of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

According to the report, this is the second time Tokyo has hosted the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games will start on July 23 and end on August 8. During these 17 days, 33 events will be held, which is a record high. 339 small events will be held in 42 venues. By convention, football, baseball and softball games are held before the opening ceremony.

The report pointed out that so far, North Korea is the only country that has announced that it has given up participating in the Olympic Games due to the new crown epidemic. Athletes, technical institutions, members of the federation, the press and other participants of the Olympic Games will form a huge closed ring to avoid contact with local Japanese to prevent infection by the new crown virus. In view of the current global pandemic situation, the vast majority of Japanese people (up to 80% in opinion polls) oppose hosting the Olympics, so the Japanese authorities have adopted extremely strict epidemic prevention measures.

Strict epidemic prevention measures against the new coronavirus

In order to successfully host the Olympics during the pandemic, the International Olympic Committee and the Paralympic Games have worked closely with the organizing committee to formulate a series of safety measures to prevent the infection and spread of the new crown virus, as well as the competition prevention manual.

Athletes do not have to be vaccinated before they arrive in Japan, but it is recommended that they be vaccinated first. The organizing committee has calculated that 80% of the residents in the Olympic Village will be vaccinated in advance. The agency also requires countries to limit as much as possible the time that relevant personnel can stay in Japan. Athletes must undergo two nucleic acid tests before traveling and be tested again when they arrive at Tokyo Airport. They can enter the Olympic Village five days before the start of the competition. They must leave within 48 hours after the end of the competition they are participating in. Athletes do not need to be quarantined for 14 days, but they have to undergo nucleic acid testing every day after arriving in Japan. Besides eating, sleeping, training and competitions, they wear masks most of the time, and the range of activities is limited.

What if an athlete tests positive at the Olympics? Will I be automatically disqualified from the competition?

Athletes who test positive for the new crown during the Olympics will not be disqualified. They will receive the lowest prize that they would have received if they continued to participate. IOC Sports Director Kit McConnell explained that each event federation has formulated a plan for re-arranging the rankings and awards when a participant or team is unable to compete due to the new crown virus. If the team cannot participate in the finals, the lower-ranked team will be on top, but the non-participating team will receive a silver medal. The situation of individual participation is relatively simple, and generally just a substitution.

Are there spectators for the Tokyo Olympics?

The Japanese government has banned foreign tourists from going to Tokyo to watch the Olympics to prevent the spread of the new crown virus. Due to the increase in the number of new crown cases in the Tokyo metropolitan area, spectators will not be admitted to the Olympic games in the area.

What are the new Olympic events?

Four new competitions including karate, surfing, skateboarding and rock climbing have been added. In addition, baseball and softball will return to the Olympics this time.

How many competition venues are there?

There are a total of 42 competition venues, of which 24 are existing venues, some are left over from the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, 10 are temporary venues, and there are 8 permanent new Olympic venues. Most Olympic events will be held in Tokyo. Saitama, Yokohama, Fukushima, Sendai, Sapporo, Enoshima and Izu will also host some Olympic events.

The mascot of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

“Future” is the mascot of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It is an indigo blue, futuristic little man with the emblem of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on his head and body.

It is estimated that more than 50 to 70 percent of all healthcare associated infections (HAIs) are spread through contaminated hands. It is time to focus on the other 30 to 50 percent, a part of which might be linked to environmental transmission. After all, “hands are really just another highly mobile surface in healthcare that are commonly contaminated and rarely disinfected.”

Hand hygiene is the #1 way to stop the spread of disease and infections. Promoting proper hygiene can protect not only your patients but your staff as well. Washing your hands is the best and easiest preventative measure to take. Doctorclean has provided a simple way to remind those in your facility of the importance of proper hand health.

hospital installed hand sanitizer dispenser wall mounted

Prevention is always better and less expensive than a cure, especially when the world is running out of antibiotics. It is imperative to develop a new and more efficient model for hospital environmental hygiene maintenance. Although many hospitals are quick to spend money on new software, specialized staff, and fancy equipment, they often look at maintaining a safe, clean, and disinfected environment as an opportunity to save in the budget.

We know that one of the modes of disease transmission is accomplished by touching a contaminated surface (we call these fomites) and then touching a mucous membrane (eyes, nose, or mouth). Infection prevention can be accomplished by following a structured and reproducible process every time patient-care equipment or area is hygienically cleaned.

hygiene, healthcare center, hand

Did you know that in many healthcare facilities there persists a view that considers hand hygiene separately from other cleaning and disinfection procedures?

Detergent-based cleaning of hands is seen to reduce contamination to a level considered as safe. But detergent-based cleaning of environmental surfaces, particularly in healthcare facilities (HCF) is regarded as the means to remove soil prior to application of a disinfectant.

The fact that, as with hand hygiene, cleaning itself contributes to achieving safety target levels on surfaces. A disinfectant kills microbes. However, depending on the pathogen, preventing the microbes from getting a foothold by removing food and moisture (two essentials for sustaining living organisms) may, in the long-term, be as effective as a chemical disinfectant.

Fear of infection encourages the use of powerful disinfectants for the elimination of real or imagined pathogens in hospitals. Not only do these agents offer false assurance against contamination, but their disinfection potential also cannot be achieved without the prior removal of organic soil.

The guiding principle is always to remove germs if possible, rather than kill them, and then, when necessary, use the least amount of the mildest chemical because stronger often means more toxic to humans and the environment.

The efficacy of hygiene procedures involving removal (e.g., detergent-based cleaning) is rarely (if ever) compared with those involving inactivation (e.g., disinfectant use) even though both are intended to produce the same result. Detergent-based cleaning is cheaper than using disinfectants and much less toxic to humans and is less corrosive to surfaces. If hygiene procedures are to deliver real health and safety benefits, we need a consistent approach based on scientific principles, which can be applied across all settings.

Industrial hygiene consists of prevention, identification and action on risks in work spaces.

Professional spaces often present multiple risks for workers and, on other occasions, affect their well-being without our realizing it.
This factor can become a problem since, as we highlighted in our Barometer on health in work environments, the well-being of workers directly conditions their performance.
Next, we review the concept of industrial hygiene, which is so closely related to risk prevention and well-being in professional settings.

What is industrial hygiene?

The INSST defines industrial hygiene as the science that anticipates, identifies, assesses and controls risks that occur in the workplace or in related environments and that can put the health and well-being of workers at risk.
In other words, industrial hygiene seeks to make the “work environment” safe and healthy.
Industrial hygiene, in addition to improving the well-being of workers and, therefore, also their performance, reduces the number of sick leave that occurs due to risks at work.
papelmatic-professional-hygiene-industrial-hygiene-what-is
What are the stages to apply industrial hygiene?

In a very summarized way, industrial hygiene follows the process shown below:

Prevention. It contemplates the configuration of the spaces and the elements that compose them. As with hygienic design, you must evaluate how to configure the professional environment in advance, this time to prevent potential risks.
ID. The next step is to identify potential hazards in the work environment.
Action. This stage aims to tackle the detected or identified risks, verify that they are not generated again and reconfigure, if necessary, the work environment.

Possible risks related to cleaning

There are multiple potential risks in the work environment, we will focus on those that can be tackled with cleaning and disinfection.
These are exposure to chemical agents and biological agents (viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc.).
In this sense, in addition to protecting staff, it is important to anticipate in order to prevent these risks, which are often invisible, but which have serious consequences for the well-being of workers.
papelmatic-professional-hygiene-industrial-hygiene-chemical-risks
How to protect workers from exposure to chemical and biological agents?

To protect workers against these types of risks, we often need more than Personal Protective Equipment.
In this case, continuous and quality training plays a fundamental role.
In addition to showing workers the risks they face, it is important to teach them how to act to deal with them. A possible example would be to train personnel in the correct handling and dosage of cleaning chemicals.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are known to cause colds and more serious diseases such as the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The new coronavirus is a new coronavirus strain that has never been found in humans before.

Since December 2019, Wuhan City, Hubei Province has continued to carry out surveillance of influenza and related diseases, and found multiple cases of viral pneumonia, all of which were diagnosed with viral pneumonia / pulmonary infection.

Common signs of a person infected with a coronavirus include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and dyspnea. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death. There is currently no specific treatment for diseases caused by the new coronavirus. However, many symptoms can be managed, so they need to be treated according to the clinical situation of the patient. In addition, assistive care for infected people can be very effective.

Taking good care of yourself includes maintaining basic hand and respiratory hygiene, sticking to safe eating habits, and avoiding as much contact with anyone as possible showing symptoms of respiratory illnesses such as coughing and sneezing.

Prevention method

How to prevent infection with coronavirus? The Beijing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends strengthening personal protection, avoiding contact with wild poultry and animals, and preventing sickness from going to work and gatherings. When you return from a trip to Wuhan and other places, if you have symptoms of respiratory infections such as fever and cough, you should choose a hospital based on the condition and send a mask to the doctor, and inform the doctor of a similar patient or animal contact history, travel history, etc. The specific suggestions are as follows:

I. Strengthen personal protection
1. Avoid crowded public places. Avoid contact with patients with fever and respiratory tract infections. Wear masks if needed.
2. Wash your hands frequently. Especially when hands are contaminated with respiratory secretions, after touching public facilities, after taking care of patients with fever, respiratory infections, or vomiting and diarrhea, after visiting hospitals, handling contaminated items, and after contacting animals, animal feed or animal feces.
3. Don’t spit. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or elbow when sneezing or coughing.
4. Strengthen exercise, regular work and rest, and maintain indoor air circulation.

Avoid contact with wild poultry
1. Avoid contact with poultry, wild animals and their excreta and secretions, and avoid buying live birds and wild animals.
2. Avoid going to animal farms and slaughterhouses, live poultry animal trading markets or stalls, wildlife habitats or other places. You must take precautions when you travel, especially for occupationally exposed people.
3. Avoid eating wild animals. Do not eat animals and their products that are already sick; buy chilled poultry from regular sources, fully cook poultry, eggs, and milk, and handle fresh and cooked products separately and clean them in time to avoid cross-contamination .

Third, put an end to work and party
If you have symptoms of respiratory tract infections such as fever and cough, take a rest at home, reduce outing and travel, and use more ventilation in the room when the weather is good. Please wear a mask when contacting others. Avoid getting sick at work, class and parties.

Fourth, seek medical treatment in a timely manner
If you return from a trip to Wuhan and other places, if you have symptoms of respiratory infection such as fever, cough, etc., you should choose a hospital based on the condition to send a fever clinic for treatment, wear a mask, and inform the doctor of similar patient or animal contact history, travel history, etc

Mexico City, May 8, 2017 – Hands are the most powerful tools of health professionals. With them we feel our patients, identify their ailments and with them we provide support and hope. However, our hands can also be a source of danger for our patients because they are the main route of infection transmission. This was stated by Dr. Cecilia Acuña, Health Services and Systems Advisor on behalf of Dr. Gerry Eijkemans, PAHO / WHO Representative in Mexico, at the World Hand Hygiene Day memorial event, which in 2017 highlights the importance of this practice in the fight against antibiotic resistance.

Worldwide, millions of people are affected annually by at least one infection associated with health care. It is estimated that in developing countries 15% of patients admitted to hospitals and 34% of patients in intensive care units develop an infection associated with their health care.

This situation translates into significant financial losses for health systems, mainly due to the increase in days of hospital stay, and the fact that it is necessary to prescribe more expensive medications, but the most serious of the infections associated with health care. Health are its consequences on people, since they affect the most fragile patients, usually induce long-term disabilities and in many cases, they result in a significant increase in avoidable mortality.

The fact that infections are the most common adverse effect of health care in the world is very worrying and unacceptable, since most of these infections can be prevented through simple, low-cost interventions such as hand washing . Hands are the most powerful tools of health professionals. With them we feel our patients, identify their medical conditions and provide them with support and hope. However, our hands can also be a source of danger for our patients because they are the main route of infection transmission.

Hand hygiene at the right time saves lives and is an indicator of the quality and biosecurity of health services. Therefore, we must continue to strengthen their practice and ensure that hand washing is done with the correct technique at five key moments:
1. before touching the patient,
2. before performing a clean / aseptic task,
3. After being exposed to body fluids,
4. after touching the patient, and
5. After being in contact with the patient’s environment.

Today, handwashing is even more important as it is key to addressing one of the biggest challenges we face today that can put decades of progress in medicine and public health at risk. This great challenge is that of antimicrobial resistance.

The misuse and overuse of antimicrobials has increased the number of microorganisms resistant to treatments that historically helped save millions of lives. For example, although on a global scale the incidence of tuberculosis has been declining since 2000, this progress is threatened by the increase in cases of multi-drug resistant and extremely resistant tuberculosis. Likewise, the increasingly frequent occurrence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus golden infections is observed, with a probability of dying 64% higher than patients with non-resistant infections.

Recognizing the seriousness of this situation, in recent years the issue of antimicrobial resistance has acquired great relevance on the international agenda, with the adoption of Resolutions and action plans by PAHO Member States and WHO (WHA67 .25, WHA 68.7 of 2015, and CD54.R15). Moreover, the world leaders gathered at the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2016 pledged to adopt a comprehensive and coordinated strategy to address the root causes of antimicrobial resistance in multiple sectors, especially in human health, Animal health and agriculture.

On the other hand, on February 27, the WHO published its first list of antibiotic resistant priority pathogens. This list includes the 12 families of bacteria most dangerous to human health for having acquired resistance to a high number of antibiotics. This list seeks to promote and guide the research of new antibiotics and therefore these 12 families of bacteria are categorized according to the degree of urgency with which new antibiotics are needed. Bacteria have been classified in those with critical priority, high priority or medium priority. It is important to note that the critical priority group includes bacteria such as Klebsiella, E. Coli, Serratia, and Proteus, which are especially dangerous in contexts where health services are provided because they can cause serious and lethal infections, such as sepsis and pneumonia.

Recognizing that deficiencies in infection prevention and control favor the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, the Global Plan of Action on Antimicrobial Resistance, approved at the 68th World Health Assembly, calls for improved prevention and control of Infections both in the community and in healthcare centers, using proper hand hygiene as one of the main strategies.

We can all help promote proper hand hygiene at the right time. Our call to action is addressed:

To the health personnel to clean their hands at the right times and thus stop the spread of antibiotic resistance.
To the Directors, Managers and Administrators of the hospitals, to implement infection prevention and control programs designed to protect their patients from resistant infections.
To decision makers and policy makers, to make infection prevention and hand hygiene a national political priority.
To the leaders in infection prevention and control, so that they implant the essential components for the prevention and control of WHO infections, including hand hygiene, in the care establishments, in order to combat antimicrobial resistant infections.
Failure to take urgent and forceful actions to combat this global problem, the list of resistant pathogens can grow and endanger millions of lives. In this context, antimicrobial resistance represents a political and social challenge that we must address not only from the health sector, but from an intersectoral perspective.

Our colleagues in the agriculture, livestock, veterinary, economics and research and development promotion sectors must join this effort. We also need to add the population, sensitizing the general public about the danger it represents today and for future generations to lose the effectiveness of antimicrobials. The fight against antimicrobial resistance is in the hands of all of us.

The CDC has weighed in on automated handwashing systems: “Although technologically advanced automated handwashing devices and monitoring systems have been developed recently, only a minimal number of studies have been published that demonstrate that use of such devices results in enduring improvements in hand-hygiene adherence among HCWs. Further evaluation of automated handwashing facilities and monitoring systems is warranted.”22

Some believe automated systems can increase hand hygiene compliance because they make a tedious chore quicker and more fun, as well as thorough and more uniform than a manual “splash-and-dash” approach commonly used by harried HCWs. Resurgent Health and Medical’s Radius Automated Handwashing and Monitoring System is a fully automated, touchless system available in healthcare for mechanical handwashing, rinsing and sanitizing. It performs a 10-second cycle using a chlorhexidine gluconate-based sanitizing solution, delivered by high-pressure water jets that perform a consistent wash-and-sanitize cycle every time the machine is used.

“We’re committed to helping achieve ‘zero tolerance’ in the prevention of healthcare-acquired infections,” says Jim Glenn, CEO of Resurgent Health and Medical. “Our new Radius system brings to healthcare a proven technology that has enabled other critical industries to achieve near-perfect elimination of infectious workplace pathogens. Furthermore, the Radius system introduces a total prevention approach by automating measurement and documentation of handwashing compliance.”

Since 2008, World Handwashing Day is celebrated annually every October 15. 2008 was also designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Year of Sanitation.

Since then, World Handwashing Day aims to extend the best hygiene practices to the entire planet. The practice of washing your hands is common in most parts of the world, but soap is rarely used after critical moments (after using the toilet, cleaning a child’s stool or before handling food).

Handwashing with soap is one of the most effective and economical ways to prevent diarrheal and respiratory diseases, which are responsible for ensuring that every year more than 3 million children do not reach 5 years of life. Every 20 seconds, a child dies as a result of poor sanitation, that means 1.5 million deaths a year that could be prevented. According to WHO, washing hands with soap and water would reduce the risk of acute diarrheal diseases by 47 percent.

Incorporating the practice of handwashing with soap in every home in the world could save more lives than any medical intervention. Declaring October 15 as World Handwashing Day also has as another key objective to ensure access to sanitation and drinking water sources throughout the world.

A gesture as simple as washing your hands with soap and water can be key to the survival of millions of people, especially the little ones. Children are especially vulnerable to the effects of diarrhea and respiratory infections, diseases that can be easily and cheaply prevented with a little soap and water. This day wants to serve as a reminder of the importance of this practice.

Equitable access to hygiene facilities that allow us to wash our hands with soap helps us build a better future as we move towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Today we celebrate World Handwashing Day, but it is a call to practice it every day; We have a great challenge in converting an idea that is often abstract in an internalized and conscious behavior in homes, schools and communities around the world.

Aspects we should all know about hand washing

Washing your hands only with water is not enough, it is a widespread practice worldwide, but it is much less effective than doing so using soap. The soap favors rubbing, gives off a smell and produces a pleasant sensation that encourages its use.

Different medical studies have confirmed that washing your hands with soap is an effective way to prevent disease transmission even in impoverished settlements with high levels of pollution. Skin or eye infections, intestinal parasites, different types of flu and even a health improvement for people with HIV / AIDS are possible with proper hand washing.

There are critical times of the day when it is mandatory to wash your hands with soap: after using the bathroom, when coming into contact with feces or before handling food. The hands are the main carriers of germs that cause disease.

Washing your hands is the most effective and cheap health or hygiene intervention in the world.

A final key aspect of World Handwashing Day is to turn children into “handwash ambassadors” nationwide in all countries. Involving children in these activities can be a real factor of change to absolutely establish this practice worldwide.

Within the framework of World Hand Hygiene Day, the Central Military Hospital celebrated this date with the Entity’s visitors and collaborators, practicing the correct way to disinfect their hands.
Bogotá D.C., May 5, 2019. – Within the framework of World Hand Hygiene Day, the Central Military Hospital committed to biosecurity sensitized the medical, administrative and users of the Institution in a practical way on how to clean their hands.

With this action, which does not take more than a minute, intrahospital infections can be reduced by up to 50%, the spread of existing bacteria in the environment is prevented and the early recovery of hospitalized patients and people with Acute Respiratory Infections is contributed (GO TO).

As explained by the Department of Epidemiology and Prevention of Infectious Diseases of the Central Military Hospital, washing your hands at the right time can save lives. This is confirmed by the World Health Organization -OMS-, which ensures in recent years, this measure in health care has saved the lives of millions of people.

Through the Hand Hygiene Program of the Epidemiology Service of the Central Military Hospital, in the course of 2019 it has been possible to impact more than 1,500 people during the awareness sessions on handwashing. The first was from March 26 to April 9 and the second was held on May 2 and 3.
