How to clean and disinfect the bathrooms
The lack of hygiene of the bathrooms has a direct impact on the experience and customer satisfaction.
Without good maintenance, clients suffer; bad smells, dirt, liquids on the floor in the toilet and in the area of sinks, lack of soap or toilet paper … All these discomforts have a negative effect on the image and reputation of the establishment. The most disadvantaged are restaurants, hotels, campsites or bars where the perceived level of cleanliness can undermine the hygiene of the entire establishment.
The lack of hygiene can cause changes in habits, 8% of Spaniards have stopped visiting a bar, restaurant or hotel due to lack of hygiene. According to the Hygiene Matters 2016 study.
To avoid this, below we offer you a series of tips for the correct cleaning in depth of bathrooms and toilets.
How to effectively clean and disinfect the different areas of the bathroom
WC area. To properly clean and disinfect walls, interior and exterior of the toilet, a chlorinated disinfectant cleaner, with bleach or ammonium quaternary. For the toilet, first apply and let the product act and clean the inside of the toilet with the brush. Once clean, rinse with plenty of water. If it has not been sufficiently clean, repeat the operation.
Spike Zone. Use a mirror cleaner and an anti-foul or multipurpose cleaner for the taps and sinks area. Especially it is important to properly dry the taps to have the best finish. If there are rust or mold spots use a chlorinated disinfectant and a small brush to reach every corner.
To keep in mind!
To clean the bathroom, it is necessary to discard the metal or hard rubbish, as they could spoil the surface of the toilet or taps. Always use non-abrasive sponges, plastic filament brushes to clean the interior of the toilet and microfiber balustrades for the outside.
The golden, enamelled or wood faucets must be cleaned with specific products for these types of finishes. Marble also requires special care and, above all, it can never be cleaned with any abrasive or acid product, because it would damage it and stains would appear.
The most recommended product for our clients is Aquagenol: multipurpose hydro-alcoholic bactericidal cleanser and fungicide for taps and sink area. Cleaning and disinfecting: marble, ceramic, tile and profitable surfaces. Aquagenol eliminates pathogenic microorganisms, has a self-sealing effect and eliminates unpleasant odors.
Contact areas. To clean door knobs, chain pushbuttons, light switches, lock buckets … etc. Use a microfiber bathtub along with a germicidal cleanser. Since they are areas of much use and require products that reduce the number of bacteria.
General area. Finally, you must check and refill the toilet paper dispensers and hand soap dispensers with a hands-free neutral pH gel. In this case, we recommend foam soap because of its quality, pleasant texture and the savings it entails. You also have to empty the trash and put new bags.
To clean the ground. The best option is a chlorinated disinfectant or with scented quaternary ammonium, to leave a fresh aroma clean. Like the Aquagen DBA, the DFA or the DBN registered disinfectants for better security.
To maintain a safe hygiene of the bathrooms
Establishing a calendar or control sheet of cleaning will help us keep the facilities clean. This document should specify the tasks to be carried out, who will perform them and every time.
In professional hygiene every product must be accompanied by its technical and safety data sheet with all the details on composition and method of correct application. This documentation must be included in the hygiene plan of the establishment.
For safety, all chemical products must be labeled and with the correct bottle, the use of reusable or non-suitable packaging for professional cleaning must be avoided, as refilled water bottles. A differentiated color code for areas and uses can help us to differentiate the products and avoid errors.
Preparing and ordering the products previously will help us to avoid improper applications that could damage surfaces or errors that could pose a danger to the user.
It is also important to use protective gloves to avoid direct contact with chemicals.
The hygiene of any business is very important, for this reason all the staff must be trained on the hygiene processes for each zone and the products to be used. In this way we ensure a good maintenance of facilities, cost control and increase workplace safety.
